When I met this man I could barely get out of my chair ... after just an hour of his healing I walked for a mile
The Herald December 31, 2008
Michael Flatley has has put his faith in a Clare-based healer who he claims cured the mystery illness that prevented him from performing for more than two years.
In late 2006, Flatley was dogged with an illness which perplexed doctors and forced the showman to cancel the European tour of Celtic Tiger.
But now the Riverdance star said that he has been able to return to his strict training regime, thanks to the assistance of positive energy treatment, supplied by healer Michael O'Doherty.
Flatley said the treatment has meant that he has returned to near full fitness again.
"I feel really good. Great, in fact. I can dance at speed and I'm close to 100pc fit again.

"It's a bio-plexis treatment that aims to harness positive energy to heal and benefit the body. It's absolutely remarkable," Flatley explained.
The dancer was rushed to a hospital when he fell ill more than two years ago. But despite extensive tests performed at a top private hospital in London, doctors failed to find a diagnosis for his acute lethargy and joint pain, and simply prescribed weeks of complete rest.
"Conventional medicine failed to cure me from my mysterious virus," Flatley said. "And then, by chance, I met a young man from Ireland called Michael O'Doherty who works on the body's energy."
US-born Flatley (49) has been back in training since March of this year, to aid his recovery, thanks to Michael O'Doherty.
"When he came to visit me in Ireland, I could barely get out of the chair," he revealed. "He saw me for about an hour and I walked for about a mile afterwards, which was the first time in a year that I'd been able to do that. He visited me about 10 times afterwards and, now, I feel really good."
When he was first hit with the virus, the showman gave an indication that he may hang up his dancing shoes forever.
"It's important in life to move on and to challenge yourself to do new things," he said. "I think that is hugely important, though what that direction is [for me] I'm not sure."
Michael, who married fellow dancer Niamh O'Brien in November 2006, revealed at the time that his last public performance in Hong Kong and Taiwan in June of that year was extremely hard.
"That nearly killed us, it was a difficult tour," he said, adding that the mystery illness attacking his body could be "God's way of telling me to slow down and stop thinking I'm Superman".
But now, following treatment from the healer based in Ennis, Flatley can return to doing what he loves best.
