The Power of Positive Thinking
Article written by Tara King
"A pessimist sees difficulty in every opportunity; an optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty".
If ever there was a more appropriate point in time for this line of theoretical wisdom from Winston Churchill, then it is most certainly now during this restless economic age in which we live.Positive thinking is often the backbone of many successes, and if the plans of the Ennis based energy healer Michael Doherty are anything to go by, it may well play a role in turning around our nation’s financials problems.
Doonbeg born Doherty is in the midst of organising an ‘energy day’ in which people will come together to channel positive thoughts at the one time. Michael has already been in discussion about the event with number of well-known figures in the scientific and meditation field, and hopes that, with all going to plan, he will be able to extend the event to England and America.
As Michael explains, the need for such an event is pivotal as more and more people are succumbing to the grip of negativity which, he says, will result in the manifestation of ill health.
Holding an article from the New York Times which highlights the increase in the number of psychiatric hospitals opening up, Michael says, “President Barrack Obama has said that if we want to really confront the problems that exist in our society, we have got to find other ways of helping people rather than turning them to drugs and surgery. How many people can afford our health care in Ireland? They can’t. Obama feels we need to exhaust other avenues and he’s right, because at the moment the vast majority of people cannot afford health care in Ireland.
What I’m saying to people is that maybe it’s not necessarily a bad thing because now we have to start looking more into ourselves and finding ways to overcome our crisis. People now need more than just words. They need tools and techniques, they need to be given a focus and they need to be shown leadership. At the same time, people have got to be given hope, vision, and in some way, they have got to tap into that creativity themselves and become more diverse and realise that it doesn’t have to be all doom and gloom, that this is just one part of their life and they now need to do other things.
People couldn’t keep going the way they were going because it was all about the dollar. Fortunately, people have now started to live again. They are not caught up in the illusion of the Celtic Tiger. That illusionary tiger now needs to be fed, and unless we disconnect form that and start thinking more positive, it will keep eating us up.”
He adds, “Our thoughts affect everything so it’s important that we start projecting a much more positive vision. For our future, it’s important that we create a more positive outlook. If we don’t, we’re going to see an increase in diseases, and more psychiatric hospitals opening up. If in some way, we as healers can contribute to helping people achieve a more positive outlook because we are in this field of work, then it would be absolutely fantastic.”
Addressing his idea of holding a positive energy day, he adds, “We are currently working out the format, but the idea is that people would come together with one focus. It’s a gathering of people who will send out positive vibrations, and it will be guided by key people involved in the field of meditation. They will guide people through a thought process of how to project thoughts and positive vibrations into the universe and into our country, but beginning with themselves.”
He adds, “It’s a day where we can bring people not just those who will be there in person but those listening on the radio, internet etc and have the national collective consciousness just for one day function on a vibration that can be so powerful and can help in some way to bring about a much greater ease within this turbulent environment.
The plan is also to extend it to a group in the UK and the United States so that we will have three groups working at the same time focusing on positive things, all initiated from Ireland. Who knows but we might even be able to get it out though the web. I have begun talks about how we can put it together. Whether there are just ten people there, or a thousand people, it doesn’t matter. We are definitely going to do it. A date has not been set, but we’re hoping to have it in the spring time”
At a time when the main topic of discussion is depression and recession, Michael’s advice to people is not to retain such negativity. He explains, “You often see newspapers with negative headlines, but when you’re continuously being fed negative energy, it has to manifest somewhere. Likewise, if people are thinking negatively, it has to manifest somewhere and it does so in disease. What we have right now is a very turbulent state within people’s consciousness brought about by fear and anxiety. Yes listen to the news, but don’t allow that energy to stick in your system.”
Michael adds, “You don’t know what’s around the corner, but what’s around the corner doesn’t always have to be negative. It can be positive. We want to get people to start thinking about the possibility of positive things and then acting on those thoughts. People go to bed at night worrying about whether they will have a job next week or next month. Forget about next week. I know people might think its difficult to do that because they have houses to pay off and families to rear, but that’s not an excuse to be negative, it’s more of a reason to be positive. Who knows what’s around the corner? In a month’s time you may not have the job you have now, but something better might come up. People have to start thinking differently. The world isn’t going to shut down. It can’t and it won’t. Things will stabilise, but people have to start thinking positively first.”
Michael’s plan to make the collective consciousness more optimistic will not end with the energy day. He hopes to follow it up with further gatherings where he will bring people together in a cost-effective way and teach them how to work with their own energies. He adds, “We will keep people updated about it but they can keep track of it thought the media or through the Plexus BioEnergy website. Anyone who has ideas about the day or who would like to take part can email us on plexushealing@eircom.net I have been in contact with people here, in the UK and in the United States who are willing to come in and take part. Hopefully on the day, we will get a good gathering together.”
